These are the very basic minimum rules that must be adhered to in order for a game to qualify as an MAA sanctioned game. The only other requirement to be considered an MAA game is to offer a discount to verified card carrying MAA Members. Manitoba Airsoft Association Basic Rules Ignorance of these rules is no excuse. It is assumed that you understand ALL rules before playing, and you indicate so upon signing up for a game. 1. EYE PROTECTION MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES ON THE FIELD All players must have ANSI Z87.1 or ASTM F1776-99 eye protection. Any questionable glasses or goggles are subject to inspection and testing on game day and may be rejected for use. No exceptions for any reason. 2. “NO DUFF” RULE If a player is seriously hurt or if anyone not wearing proper eye protection enters the game area, “NO DUFF” will be called out and all game activity will cease. All weapons will be put on safe and all magazines will be removed. If you hear the “No Duff” call, repeat it in the opposite direction to where you heard it from. This will ensure all players are aware of the dangerous situation and cease the game. 3. ALL GUNS ON SAFE WITH MAGAZINES OUT IN SAFE ZONES Safe Zones will be defined at the event. In the case of a No Duff, the entire field is considered a temporary Safe Zone. No ‘dry’ firing of any guns is allowed in Safe Zones. If you are repairing, move to a location away from other players. 4. SAFETY IS PRIORITY AT ALL TIMES FOR ALL PLAYERS While every player and game organizer has done and will do his/her best to make the game safe, you must understand that the only person ultimately responsible for any injury you may suffer is you. 5. PERSONAL EFFECTS Anything brought on to the playing field is at your own risk. No compensation will be provided for lost, stolen or damaged items. Anyone who takes anything that does not belong to them without permission will be dealt with to the full extent of the law. Any found items should be turned in to the game organizers. CHEATING & DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS Game organizers and field custodians have the right to evict you from the property at any time, for any reason. No refunds will be issued in such cases. Follow the rules and you will have no problems. Cheating in any form will NOT be tolerated. Cheating can result in expulsion from the game or a ban from future MAA events. Airsoft is an honour-based sport. If you cannot be trusted, you will not be allowed to participate. If you suspect someone of cheating, you should under no circumstances confront the player directly during a game; notify a game administrator. GAME PLAY RULES • Blind fire is strictly prohibited. • Hits count anywhere on your body and/or your worn gear. • Gun hits DO NOT count. • Thrown BBs DO NOT count. • Friendly fire hits are treated the same as enemy fire. • When hit, produce your kill rag and place it on your head until you return to the re-spawn area. • Dead men DO NOT answer radio messages or communicate in any way. Interacting and/or providing live players with any information while dead is considered cheating. • No persons under the age of eighteen allowed on the play field at any time. • Every gun must have been chronographed and recorded by an MAA Member prior to being brought onto the play field. • Muzzle energy may not exceed 1.48 joules for guns capable of fully automatic fire. This is equivalent to a 0.20g BB travelling no faster than 400 feet per second (120 meters per second). • Muzzle energy may not exceed 2.04 joules of energy for any guns not capable of fully automatic fire. This is equivalent to a 0.20g BB travelling no faster than 470 feet per second (140 meters per second). • If your gun exceeds 1.48 joules of muzzle energy: o Avoid aiming for the head of the target. o A minimum engagement distance of 60 feet (18 meters) must be observed. Any target within this range must be engaged using a gun with muzzle energy of less than 1.48 joules. • Any person attempting to use a gun which is over these limits may be ejected from the game and subject to disciplinary action. • Under no circumstances are BBs constructed of metal or glass to be used. • Aiming lasers may be used provided they do not output more than 5mW.
